Myself in Memories

Concept

As a young adult I want nothing more than to be able to rewind my life and be a child again. Im finding adulthood quite a challenge as now, I have a better understanding of what life is all about. To clear a bit up for myself as an independent being, I want to explore myself in memories. I want to keep those memories quite positive as trying to relive them will be an emotional task in itself. As a child I went through a lot. My childhood is quite blank. Now that Im reaching a stage in my life where I am thinking about having a family myself, I think its important to reflect on what meant a lot to me growing up. Happy, bright, fun times. Treats and toys. Who I looked up to and the bonds I shared. Seeing, learning, experiencing. Imagination and creation. All that is important in the development of a child. I think these sorts of life lessons and experiences play a major part as each individual builds their own unique character and personality.

Image approach

I aim to approach each image as a moment in time, as if it were a dream or flashback. I will be using my partners little sister in place of myself. I do not want to include her face in any image. I aim to create emotion of a memory by having her silhouetted when working in a scene using full body. With specific subjects I will interact with her hands and feet to convey a sense of interaction as the viewer.

Playing with ideas
  • Bonds I shared (eg. with Mum, Dad & My Brothers)
  • Learning (eg. Drawing, Colouring, Writing)
  • Exploring (eg. Riding my bike, climbing in trees, hiding in big drains)
  • Watching tv / playing video games
  • How I saw things compared to how I see them now
  • Favorite hobbies
  • Favorite toys
  • Favorite treat/s
  • Listening for the ice-cream truck
  • Waiting for Mum or Dad to pick me up from school or babysitter
  • Watching a loved one leave
